Tony Toliver. Charles Anthony Taliaferro (born July 4, 1955 in Richards, Texas) is an American country music singer. Taliaferro began playing bass guitar in his family's gospel group, but later began playing piano. He moved to Nashville, Tennessee at age 25 and held day jobs, until he was discovered by singer Dottie West.

Toliver is a big-voiced, laconic performer who has obviously been around the block a time or two. He played and sang for many years with the late Dottie West’s band and weathered many storms with the singer, who also served as mentor to Larry Gatlin and Steve Wariner. “I talked to her three times on the day she was killed,” he recalled.
