Jim Pons (born March 14, 1943) is an American bassist, author, singer, and video director who most notably played for the Leaves (1964–1967), the Turtles (1967–1970), and the Mothers of Invention (1970–1971) and Flo and Eddie (1971-1973).
Jim Pons was born in Santa Monica, California and enjoyed a career in the music business during the 60's, traveling the world as the bass guitar player for The Leaves, The Turtles, Flo and Eddie, and in the early 70's with Frank Zappa and The Mothers of Invention.
Meanwhile, the Turtles continued with new bassist Jim Pons replacing Douglas. "She'd Rather Be with Me", "You Know What I Mean" and "She's My Girl" Other hits, all written by Gordon/Bonner, followed "Happy Together", making 1967 a lucrative year for the Turtles.

Later replacing Simmons with another ex-Turtle, bassist Jim Pons, this second incarnation of the Mothers endured through December 1971, when Zappa was injured by an audience member during a concert appearance.
