Marilyn Crispell is a graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music where she studied classical piano and composition, and has been a resident of Woodstock, New York since 1977 when she came to study and teach at the Creative Music Studio.

Dec 11, 2017 · As one of the few female composers and one of only a handful in experimental jazz, Marilyn Crispell found a place for herself in the world of contemporary jazz – touring across Europe with the Reggie Workman Ensemble, the Braxton Quartet and as a solo artist.
Crispell is a soloist, leader and producer of her own jazz groups. She has also recorded and performed extensively with many well-known musicians on the American and international jazz scene. Crispell has recorded and performed music by Robert Cogan and Pozzi Escot as well as John Cage and Pauline Oliveros.
