Reference was made to its beautiful cathedral-like arches and the park found its name. In June of 1980, the Cathedral Park Committee sealed a time capsule (complete with ash from Mt St Helens) into the Wall of History in the Memorial Garden in the park. The time capsule will be opened in 2030.

Cathedral Park, named for the soaring gothic supports and towers of St Joseph bridge, during my recent visit the fall colors were is their full glory, offering a beautiful frame to appreciate the overhead St Joseph Bridge supports. Heading east across the bridge, we took our first two lefts and parked under the bridge at the start of the park.
