Johan Laidoner (12 February [O.S. 31 January] 1884 – 13 March 1953) was an Estonian general and statesman. He served as Commander‑in‑Chief of the Estonian Armed Forces during the 1918–1920 Estonian War of Independence and was among the most influential people in the Estonian politics between the world wars.

Johan Laidoner (12. veebruar (31. jaanuar vkj) 1884 Vardja, Viiratsi vald, Viljandimaa – 13. märts 1953 Vladimiri keskvangla, Vladimir, NSV Liit) oli Venemaa ja Eesti sõjaväelane ning Eesti poliitik.
Johan Laidoner, Estonian general and statesman, started his career in the Russian army during World War I. He was crucial in establishing an Estonian army, which he commanded in the War of Independence (1918-20). In 1934 he participated in a coup d’état, bringing an authoritarian regime to power.
From December 1917 to February 1918, Lieutenant Colonel Laidoner was the commander‑in‑chief of the Estonian national units of the Russian army – commander of the 1st Estonian Division. Prior to the beginning of the German occupation, Laidoner resigned from the post of division commander and left for Russia.
On 19 June 1919, the Estonian Commander-in-Chief General Johan Laidoner rescinded his command over the White Russians, and they were renamed the Northwestern Army. Shortly afterwards, General Nikolai N. Yudenich took command of the troops.
