The Verdun Memorial is a war memorial to commemorate the Battle of Verdun, fought in 1916 as part of the First World War. It is situated on the battlefield, close to the destroyed village of Fleury-devant-Douaumont in the département of Meuse in north-eastern France.

The Battle of Verdun began on 21 February 1916 at 7.15 am when the German army began pounding the forts and trenches with artillery fire. 1,200 guns smashed the French positions.
Created in 1967, the Verdun Memorial is a key historical and remembrance site set in the heart of the battlefield. After a complete overhaul and extension, the Memorial reopened on 21 February, the anniversary of the first day of the battle of Verdun.
