About the Cathedral. Led by The Right Reverend Lawrence Scanlan, Salt Lake City's first bishop, construction on the cathedral on South Temple began in 1899 and was completed in 1909.
History of the Cathedral. Under the leadership of the Right Reverend Lawrence Scanlan (1843 - 1915), the first bishop of Salt Lake, the construction of The Cathedral of the Madeleine was begun in the year 1900 and completed in 1909.
Service Times. Masses in English: Saturday 5:00 pm (Anticipated); Sunday, 8:30 am, 11:00 am and 6:00 pm. Masses in Spanish: Saturday, 7:00 pm (Anticipated); Sunday, 3:00 pm. Daily: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am, 5:15 pm; Saturday, 8:00 am. Holy Days: 8:00 am, 12:00 Noon and 6:00 pm.
