The Der Aa-kerk, also known as De A-kerk, is a church in the city centre of Groningen. Next to the Martinikerk it is the most important remaining medieval church building in the city. Viewed from the Vismarkt the church, situated on the Akerkhof, towers high above the Korenbeurs.

Der Aa-kerk. Groningen, Netherlands. Originally there was a chapel situated on the site of the current Aa-kerk church. This chapel was devoted to Mary and to Saint Nicholas, the patron of the bargees who cast off the vessels at the Westerhaven.
The Der Aa-kerk (Aa Church) with its striking yellow tower and medieval arches is located on the Vismarkt (Fish Market) in Groningen’s city centre. Its history dates back to the year 800 when it was a small wooden chapel situated close to the river Aa.
Jan 22, 2016 · The Aa kerk is a rather large former church, which is currently closed to the public. The tower is an easily identifiable landmark in Groningen. There is little green space near the front of the church, which are great for a rest or eating lunch.
