Oscar Hammerstein II died at his farm in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, on the morning of August 23, 1960. In 1995 Hammerstein’s centennial was celebrated worldwide with commemorative recordings, books, concerts, and an award-winning PBS special, “Some Enchanted Evening.”
