Cheyenne is the seat of government for the U.S. state of Wyoming. Built between 1886 and 1890, the capitol is located in Cheyenne and contains the chambers of the Wyoming State Legislature as well as the office of the Governor of Wyoming. It was designated a U.S. National Historic Landmark in 1987.

The Wyoming Capitol has been, and still is, a dominant structure on the Cheyenne skyline, in addition to being historically one of the most important buildings in the State. [ Wyoming State Capitol ] T he Wyoming State Capitol is now open to the public after a four-year restoration and renovation. The Legislature appropriated money in 2019 to build a student learning center and visitor center, but these spaces will not be complete until early 2020.
