Forest Park in Springfield, Massachusetts, is one of the largest urban, municipal parks in the United States, covering 735 acres (297 ha) of land overlooking the Connecticut River. The first zone -- if you enter via the architecturally gorgeous Sumner Avenue -- looks like a normal, if high-end city park. It features baseball diamonds, a hockey arena/ice skating rink, bocce courts, lawn bowling fields, tennis courts, and basketball courts. There's also a snack kiosk.
