One of the nicer state parks here in Michigan. Lake Charlevoix is perfect for families with young children--it is shallow for a long way out. The state park has a large beach area. If you take fido, the path and water area to the left of the boat launch is dog friendly. If you hike, be aware that the smaller path is well tended.
Young State Park is for all types of recreational activities especially on Lake Charlevoix. The beach is a very soft light brown color sand and the water is very clear. The camp sites are really kept up very well along with the bathhouses and rest rooms.
Young State Park is located on Lake Charlevoix. The camping facilities are top notch and the beach is beautiful with pure sand. Watch out for the poison ivy though.
