Belle Isle Park is home to the Belle Isle Aquarium, the Belle Isle Conservatory, the Belle Isle Nature Center, the James Scott Memorial Fountain, the Dossin Great Lakes Museum, a municipal golf course, a half-mile (800 m) swimming beach, and numerous other monuments and attractions.
Accessible by a bridge at the foot of East Grand Boulevard, this 982-acre island park features a zoo, aquarium, conservatory, Great Lakes museum and plenty of room to hike, barbecue, watch boats, bicycle and more.
- Belle Isle Aquarium. The Belle Isle Aquarium is a part of the Belle Isle Conservancy and might be the most iconic attraction on the island. This aquarium is located in a historic building that was designed by Albert Kahn, a famous local architect who designed many buildings throughout Detroit Michigan.
- Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory. Closed for major renovations through 2024. The Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory is also part of the Belle Isle Conservancy.
- Belle Isle Nature Center. The Belle Isle Nature Center is operated by the Detroit Zoo, which has a main location in Royal Oak. Visit daily between 10 am – 5 pm, with the exception of New Years Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
- Dossin Great Lakes Museum. Many people are surprised to find out that this small island is home to an incredible maritime museum. The Dossin Great Lakes Museum provides an opportunity to learn more about the history of the Great Lakes while soaking up some of the most spectacular views in the city.
