Our Goals. FRIENDS OF EVERHART PARK, established in 1989, was formed to preserve and restore Everhart Park to its historic appearance. Through fundraising, volunteer work days, and advocacy, the Friends of Everhart Park has restored the radiating park paths, restored the gazebo, reconstructed the rustic footbridge, restored the Children’s Summer House and planted some 300 trees and shrubs.
Everhart Park has an area of 10.2 acres (4.1 ha) and is located on the western side of West Chester, bordering East Bradford Township. [1] It is bounded by Brandywine Street to the east, Union Street to the south, Bradford Avenue to the west, and Miner Street to the north. Blackhorse Run, a tributary of Brandywine Creek, has its source in the park.
Everhart Park is the 2nd oldest park in the borough. The 10.2 acres of land was originally owned by William Everhart, who named the park Everhart Grove.
