Ezra or Esdras (/ ˈ ɛ z r ə /; Hebrew: עֶזְרָא, ʿEzrāʾ; fl. 480–440 BCE), also called Ezra the Scribe (עֶזְרָא הַסּוֹפֵר ʿEzrāʾ hasSōfēr) in Chazalic literature and Ezra the Priest, was an important Jewish scribe and priest in the early Second Temple period.

The book of Ezra records two separate time periods directly following the seventy years of Babylonian captivity.
