Simeon was victorious the third straight time as Chicago public league boys’ basketball champs, with its 69–59 win over Orr Academy (2016-2017 State Class 2A champs) in the 2018 city title game. The last boys’ basketball CPL three-peat was in 1961.

The Ben Wilson Gymnasium opened in 1989. The school name was changed from Simeon Vocational High School in September of 1998 to Simeon Career Technical Academy. In 2003, the name changed to Simeon Career Academy to make way for a brand-new school building.
CTE programs combine a rigorous high school academic curriculum with training in career and technical subjects and workplace competencies. CTE impacts over 55,000 students in 73 high schools and 11 career academies throughout the city.
Simeon Career Academy High School is ranked 477-673rd within Illinois. Students have the opportunity to take Advanced Placement® coursework and exams.
