East End Historic District is a national historic district located at Charleston, West Virginia. The district is set on a broad, ancient flood plain bordered by the Great Kanawha River on the south and by commercialized Washington Street on the north.
The Historic East End is a 110-acre district that contains more than 400 historic buildings including a wide variety of architectural styles ranging from neo-Classical, Greek Revival, Georgian to mid-19th century pre-World War I styles.

East End. One of the most iconic landmarks in Charleston is the 23.5 karat gold dome of the West Virginia State Capitol. In addition to the picturesque dome, the State Capitol complex is a perfect destination for those who love architecture, history, art, or slowing down and relaxing outdoors.
While the primary urban residential development of eastern Charleston occurred in the period 1895-1925, the late eighteenth century settlement of the city and the formation of the first Kanawha County government are events associated with the East End Historic District.
Listed in the National Register of Historic Places on April 20, 1978, the East End Historic District contains approximately 400 buildings exhibiting the unique character and architectural qualities that make the neighborhood one of the most desirable places to be in Charleston.
