Pie in the Sky is a British police comedy drama starring Richard Griffiths and Maggie Steed, created by Andrew Payne and first broadcast in five series on BBC1 between 13 March 1994 and 17 August 1997, as well as being syndicated on other channels in other countries.
After twenty-five years as a policeman, Detective Inspector Henry Crabbe wants to retire and open his restaurant Pie In The Sky, with his accountant wife Margaret as cashier/bookkeeper.A week before exchanging contracts he is shot in the leg by suave fraudster Dudley Hooperman.
When Pie in the Sky makes it to the final of the Great British Grub contest being held in London, Henry uses the trip to visit Chinatown and act as go-between. A winner and a loser return to Middleton come the end of the day.
