It was released to DVD in Europe only, like Season 1.
•This season is notable for Buster leaving on a vacation with his dad midway through the season and, with the exception of a few cameos, not returning until the premiere episode of the next season. The reason for his extended absence was revealed in Jason Szwimer's podcast Finding D.W., in which Daniel Brochu, Buster's voice actor, explains that he traveled to Australia for a year. It was decided that a re-cast for Buster's voice would not happen; instead, Buster would be temporarily written out of the show while traveling, much like Brochu himself.
•In the latter half of this season, possibly in an attempt to conceal Buster's absence, there were more episodes that focused on characters other than Arthur and his family, such as Francine, Sue Ellen, and, most notably, Fern.
•Brochu notes that he recorded some lines while he was abroad, which could explain a subtle difference in tone or quality of Buster's voice in his few appearances in the last half of the season.
•The premise of Buster traveling with his father was eventually expanded upon and developed further in the spinoff series, Postcards from Buster.
•On April 20, 1997, The Toronto Star reported that Arthur was renewed for a second season.
•On June 5, 1997, it was announced by Red Deer Advocate that 10 additional episodes of the season had been ordered.
