Martin is an American television sitcom that aired for five seasons on Fox from August 27, 1992 to May 1, 1997. The show starred comedian Martin Lawrence as the titular character. Lawrence also played several other characters. Martin was one of Fox 's highest rated shows during the sitcom's run.
It comes from the Latin name Martinus, which is a late derived form of the name of the Roman god Mars, protective godhead of the Latins and, therefore, god of war. [1] The meaning is usually rendered in reference to the god as "of Mars", or "of war/warlike" ("martial").
