Dalziel and Pascoe is a British television crime drama based on the mystery novels of the same name, written by Reginald Hill. The series was first broadcast on 16 March 1996, with Warren Clarke being cast as Dalziel (pronounced "dee-ell", / diːˈɛl / ⓘ) and Colin Buchanan being cast as Pascoe.
With DI Peter Pascoe away visiting his daughter and ex-wife in Florida, Det. Supt. Andy Dalziel investigates the murder of local solicitor David Brewer. At the request of an old friend, Sgt. Ted Lock, Andy makes his son, DS Mark Lock acting DI in Pascoe's absence.

ITV adapted the novel A Pinch of Snuff in 1993 for a three-part serial. The serial starred comedy duo Gareth Hale as Dalziel and Norman Pace as Pascoe. Christopher Fairbank was cast as DS Edgar Wield. Reginald Hill was not happy with the adaptation, and it remained a one-off, much to ITV's disappointment.
