Jan 1, 1993 · Dr. Mike Quinn (Jane Seymour) leaves her native Boston for the frontier community of Colorado Springs, and the sudden death of one of her few friends in town leaves her with three children to raise. But with the help of the eccentric Sully (Joe Lando), she begins to find her way in her new life.
Dr. Mike takes in Red McCall, a down-and-out cowboy, and his ailing half-breed infant child. McCall reaches the end of his rope trying to care for his baby, so after robbing Loren's store, he leaves the baby in Michaela's care, sensing she could find a suitable home for his child.
