Ben Casey is an American medical drama television series that aired on ABC from 1961 to 1966. The show was known for its opening titles, which consisted of a hand drawing the symbols "♂, ♀, , †, ∞" on a chalkboard, as cast member Sam Jaffe uttered, "Man, woman, birth, death, infinity." [1] .

Chief Resident Ben Casey, M.D. is introduced as a brilliant but headstrong neurosurgeon at County General Hospital. When a young boy is admitted with a serious illness, Dr. Casey recommends a series of operations that could cure him.
Vince Edwards (born Vincent Edward Zoine; July 9, 1928 – March 11, 1996) was an American actor, director, and singer. He was best known for his TV role as Dr. Ben Casey and as Major Cliff Bricker in the 1968 war film The Devil's Brigade .

Like the Kildare series, Ben Casey became soapier with age (but unlike Dr Kildare, the series was not split into half-hourly shows). Stories ran on from week to week, and Casey was even allowed to fall in love with Jane Hancock (Stella Stevens), a beautiful patient who awoke from a 13-year coma.
