Nov 19, 2020 · The European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) lets you get healthcare in another EU or European Economic Area (EEA) state for free, or at a reduced cost. It covers you if you are on holiday, or on a short-term stay of less than 3 months.
You can apply for an EHIC if you’re living in Ireland and intend to live here for at least 1 year. You can apply: in person - visit your local public EHIC office. online - if you have a medical card or Drugs Payment Scheme card. by post - if you live in Dublin North West, Cork North & South Lee.

You should consider it. Your EHIC just covers medical costs. Travel insurance can cover you for cancellation and lost or stolen luggage and extras like winter sports cover.
