"The Case of the Missing Squeak" is the twenty-eighth episode of the first season of Monster High. It is also the sixteenth episode of the season overall and premiered on October 4, 2023, on Nickelodeon.
In Lagoona's dorm, she is telling her iBall how much she loves Monster High, where monsters respect and admire how ferocious she is. She has many friends in school. Between them, Draculaura is the only one who knows about Señor Squeaky, Lagoona's childhood toy, and keeps this secret safe. Lagoona is afraid that if others find out she still needs her toy's comfort, they will stop thinking she is ferocious. Recenlty, Lagoona is having trouble in Boo-logy, in the class where students are supposed to turn dead frogs into zombies with Zombie Fluid. Lagoona had accidentaly used Essence of Life instead, and the frog she brought back to life caused a lot of chaos in the classroom. So now Lagoona has to take an extra test to get credit. She is very anxious about it, so she is taking her toy with her, as squeezing it calms her nerves. Lagoona finishes her monster minute, puts Señor Squeaky in her backpack and goes to class through the pipes. In the classroom where the test will be set, Nefera is the teaching assistant for the test, the other students who are taking the test, Ghoulia, Manny, Frankie and Spectra, are already in the classroom. Lagoona enters the classroom from the pipes shorlty after, splashing water around the room. She apologizes to Nefera about it and the latter is not mad.
Lagoona is suprised to see Manny and Ghoulia in the room, as they were on the horror roll. Manny responds he never passes a chance for extra credit, while Ghoulia missed class last week because she was in Zombie Con. With eveyone in the class, Nefera distributes the tests to the students, they have 20 minutes to finish it. Lagoona immediately gets anxiety, making sure no one is looking at her, she opens her backpack and squeezes Señor Squeaky, and this calms her down a little. Time is set, and Nefera reads a book while eveyone takes the test. The students are very nervous and anxious with the test. At some point, Frankie gets up to point their pencil and, while walking back to their chair, they accidentally step on a water puddle Lagoona left. This causes Frankie to go electric, they hit the bookcase, and some bottles fly off it. Once Frankie is back to normal, they gather the bottles, Nefera comes to check up on Frankie, but they are okay. Then Spectra gets up, whispers something to Nefera and the latter allows her to leave class for a while.
Still nervous about the test, Lagoona decides to squeeze her toy one more time, but when she looks in her backpack, she is horrified to see that Señor Squeaky is no longer in it. While no one is watching, she searches for her toy in the room, but can't find it anywhere. Lagoona gets even more anxious and starts getting the chomps. Then she crawls over Ghoulia's chair, which calls the latter's attention. She asks Lagoona what's wrong. Not wanting to tell her secret, she just responds she is missing something very important. Nefera notices the girls talking and asks in shock if they are cheating. The two girls deny it, so Nefera allows them to talk, as long as they're not cheating. Frankie asks what's wrong too, when Ghoulia explains that Lagoona lost something, Frankie offers to help her find it and asks what she's missing. She claims she can't say what is it, but angrily claims someone in the classroom took it. She crawls to Manny's chair and sees he is sitting on a pink towel. She takes the towel, to his shock, and aggressively asks him what it is. Although nervous with the way she is talking, Manny has no shame in admiting it and confess it is his nervous towel, because he sweats a lot when he gets nervous. She leaves him alone.
Then she heads to Frankie, she aggressively asks Frankie if the reason they offered to help Lagoona find her "thing" is for trying to cover the fact that they took it. But Frankie didn't take it, and Lagoona believes in their honesty. At that moment, Spectra returns to the classroom. Lagoona approaches her aggressively and accuses of taking her "thing", since she left right before it went missing. Spectra didn't take it either, but confesses that school tests give her a lot of anxiety, and she left the classroom because she asked Nefera if she could call her ghoulma. Nefera confirms Spectra's words, and she allowed it because, when she gets nervous about becoming the next pharaoh, a talk with her parents always calms her down. Lagoona then deeply apologizes to Spectra for her accusations. She confesses she also has anxiety over tests, that's why she brought her missing "thing" with her. Her friends encourage her to tell them what her missing thing is so they can help her find it, as there is no shame in having something to helps you calm down. Since her friends were honest, she decides to be honest too, so she reveals to them about Señor Squeaky's existence, and that it is her missing thing.
The friends find it very cute, but this upsets Lagoona, she doesn't want them to think she is adorable instead of a ferocious terrifying monster. Manny claims he believes sharing your vulnerabilities is very fierce, Spectra says Lagoona can be both adorable and horrible, while Frankie assures her nothing can make them think she is less terrifying. They start saying Lagoona is more voltageous that they were when they stepped on the puddle and, while talking, they reveal that when they hit the bookcase a bottle with Essence of Life flew off it and, when analyzing, they realize the bottle fell right into Lagoona's backpack. Ghoulia finds the Essence of Life in the backpack, and to everyone's shock, the bottle is empty. At that moment, the students and Nefera hear screams, crashes and squeeze sounds coming from outside the room. Everyone realizes the Essence of Life brought Señor Squeaky to life and it left the classroom while no one was watching. The teenagers leave the classroom, Nefera doesn't stop them, just hopes they will return before time runs out.
In the school hall, Lagoona, Ghoulia, Frankie, Manny and Spectra find a living Señor Squeaky chewing on Cleo's wraps, then it runs off. The five friends chase it down the halls. Ghoulia takes her skateborad to catch it. Señor Squeaky pretends to have reverted back to normal to trick Ghoulia and make her hit a trophy case. Since she is a zombie, she is not hurt. The others continue to chase the toy, Spectra tries to catch it, but since she is a ghost, it passes through her. Frankie then uses their electric powers on Señor Squeaky, but it manages to overpass it and escapes from the teenagers. Lagoona is now desperate, but her friends calm her down and Spectra advises her to trust her monster instincts, and that's exactly what Lagoona does. Señor Squeaky then enters the creepateria. Goobert accidentally swallows it and gets hiccups. Lagoona, Ghoulia, Frankie, Manny and Spectra enter the creepateria, Lagoona sniffs Señor Squeaky and finds it inside Goobert. Following Lagoona's plan, Spectra scares Goobert, which causes him to spit Señor Squeaky out, Manny and Frankie use Manny's towel to stop it from flying off the room and then Lagoona catches it. She is very happy to have her beloved toy back and thanks her friends. Analyzing with Dr. Blunder's brain bit, Frankie concludes that the effects of the Essence of Life on the toy will run off in about an hour.
