The Invunche first appeared in the 1985 comic Swamp Thing #37, which also featured the first appearance of the character of John Constantine, and which introduced the secret society of the Brujería...When speaking with Anne-Marie, John refers to Pazuzu, the demon who possessed Regan MacNeil in The Exorcist (1973).During the final shot where the camera pulls back from Constantine lying shot in the sewer, the pieces of dry ice used to generate the mist are clearly visible floating in the water.
