The fourteenth episode of Season 22 of Hell's Kitchen aired on January 18, 2024. In that episode, Ramsay turned the final four's ideas upside down, they took turns running the pass, and the final three was announced.

After having his talk with Ramsay, Johnathan was ready to put aside the incident and use it to fuel himself. Johnathan told Ryan about the discussion after making it to the dorms and was ready for the following day. Then, Ryan said how crazy it was that they each had a one-in-four shot at winning, and he and Johnathan reaffirmed their pact to make ...

The following day, the final four went downstairs as Ramsay welcomed them to the Hell’s Kitchen Grand Prix. Ramsay explained that for their next challenge, they must push a shopping cart around the track, stopping at four different stations per circuit. They had two minutes to shop, and Johnathan was ready to show Ramsay he could kick some butt. Ramsay revealed that the winner would receive a pop-up event at the Sunseeker Resort in Charlotte Harbor, Florida. Hearing that excited Carmen as she thought the challenge was hers to win. Ramsay told the chefs to think about making a dish that reflected the seaside resort, and Sammi knew winning the reward would be phenomenal.

The final four began racing around the circuit, and Carmen did not care if she ran over the others’ feet. Carmen grabbed a Dungeness Crab and found Peruvian aji Amarillo, making her excited to bring her ingredients to life. Meanwhile, Sammi complained about how slippery the track was as she grabbed swordfish, while Ryan grabbed his ingredients with faith. Forty-five seconds left, Johnathan grabbed the mahi-mahi as he had Florida on his mind. Eventually, time was up, and everyone completed their shopping.

With the shopping over, Ramsay told the chefs that they had 45 minutes to create their dishes. But, before the chefs could start cooking, Ramsay asked Carmen to lift the HK logo sheet on her cart. To her shock, Johnathan’s name was behind the sheet, and Ramsay revealed that they were unknowingly shopping for the other chefs. That angered Carmen as she found her pepper paste, and Johnathan was using it. Sammi revealed that her cart was for Ryan, irritating the latter as he now had to make a dish with ingredients he did not pick. When Johnathan revealed that his cart was for Sammi, she said all her original ideas were gone, while Ryan revealed that his cart was for Carmen. After going to their new carts, Ramsay reminded the final four that he wanted to see how well they could adapt under pressure and began the cooking time limit.

As the chefs began prepping their dishes, Johnathan decided to make an aji Amarillo potato puree and a crab cake, saying he knew where he was headed: Florida. Meanwhile, Carmen complained about the unoriginal ingredients Ryan had for her and felt his wife did all the shopping back home. Carmen had no idea what to make with Ryan’s ingredients, but she decided to follow her gut. Sixteen minutes left, Sammi was upset with Johnathan’s French ingredients but was pleased that she had mahi-mahi as it was a Floridan fish. Meanwhile, Ryan felt fine with what he had, as he decided to make a grilled swordfish with grilled pineapple. Recalling the criticism Aaron Franklin had about his swordfish dish in the Grilling Challenge, Ryan decided to back off on the seasoning. With two and a half minutes left, Ryan sliced into the fish and saw it was raw. After slicing it into pieces, Ryan put them on the grill to quickly cook them. Eventually, time was up, and everyone had their dishes cooked and plated on time.

In addition to the pop-up event reward, Johnathan received a jet ski adventure, and Ramsay said he could bring someone with him. Johnathan picked Ryan after making it obvious to everyone, and the latter thanked the former for winning it for them. During the reward, Johnathan felt his adrenaline was off the charts and was happy to spend it with Ryan. Meanwhile, Ryan called it the best experience of his life.

At lunch, Johnathan jokingly called it his first date with Ryan and knew the finish line was coming close. As they ate, Ryan and Johnathan agreed to crush service that night and see each other holding the door handles. Despite not knowing if this was his last service, Ryan was glad to spend the day with Johnathan.

Carmen and Sammi were punished by prepping coconuts and making yogurt for the beet salads. That made Carmen complain that she lost again after being so close. During the punishment, Carmen said that they usually cracked coconuts with machetes in Florida, but felt it might have been a good idea not to provide them with one. As Johnathan and Ryan walked by for their reward, Sammi proclaimed that she was smashing the coconuts like she would that night on service.

Later, Sammi complained that the men were getting cocky while Carmen said that she was not impressed with Johnathan and Ryan’s performance last night. Carmen felt she deserved to be in the final four as an equal, and she and Sammi pointed out how they were the last two women left in the competition.

That evening, service began as Solomon Thomas, Lauren Ash, Sean Evans, and Jeff Scott Soto were seen dining that night. That night, Ramsay tested the final four by having them run the pass and lead the kitchen, with Sous Chef Christina covering any empty station that night. Carmen, who admitted that she had never run a pass before, was up first. Refusing to be the one leaving that night, Carmen got the first order called out as she knew Ramsay was looking for someone with a voice. As Carmen waited for the orders, Sous Chef Christina secretly swapped the butternut squash puree for carrot. Carmen caught the mistake due to the darker color and felt proud she caught it. Then, Ryan brought up the carbonara, but Ramsay secretly swapped it for pappardelle. Again, Carmen caught the sabotage and felt good she was catching every small detail that came her way. As the appetizers were sent out, Marino handed Carmen an improperly written ticket that had three entrées on a four top. Carmen failed to see the mistake and called the ticket out, but Ramsay told her the mistake and had Marino come to the pass. Still, Carmen refused to let one mistake ruin her night as she hoped she did well in Ramsay’s eyes.

When Ryan went up, he was eager to run the pass as he practiced calling tickets for that moment. Ryan called out his ticket with clear dictation and intent, something Sammi appreciated. As Ryan plated the dishes, Ramsay gave him a risotto with orzo instead of Arborio rice. Ryan caught the mistake and said if he pulled it off for the rest of the night, he would skyrocket into the final three. Then, Marino gave Ryan two tickets for two each, but the latter spotted the mistake before he read it out and told the former to try again. Moving back to the line, Ryan sliced Carmen’s steak and told her it was overcooked. Carmen promised she would get a refire in seven minutes, but Ryan told her to do it in six minutes instead. As Johnathan felt that Carmen would not be able to catch up, Ramsay reminded the chefs to run their station. Still, Carmen argued that she was working meat alone but got her refire accepted. After Ryan ended his turn, he felt 110% sure he belonged at the pass.

Johnathan was the third person to run the pass and knew that everything was on the line that night. Johnathan called out his first order, and while Ramsay liked how the former called it out, he reminded Johnathan not to let his guard down in front of his brigade. Johnathan refused to let anything pass him, and Ryan liked how the former was running them. Ramsay secretly gave Johnathan a carbonara with fava beans instead of peas, but the latter instantly saw the mistake. After the order was sent out, Ramsay gave Johnathan an Artic char instead of the salmon Sammi cooked. That time, Johnathan did not see the mistake and plated the fish. Ramsay pointed out that mistake, and Johnathan knew that it was a tough one to spot as the salmon and Artic char looked alike. Still, Johnathan swore it would be his only mistake and was given a rack of venison instead of a rack of lamb. Despite not knowing what protein that was, Johnathan was sure that it was not lamb. Ramsay said he was correct, and Johnathan felt he was over the moon.

Sammi was the final person to run the pass, and Ramsay had Ryan take over the fish station for the former. Sammi refused to go home that night and said she was all business at the pass. Sammi spoke out in a clear and punchy manner and rejected Ryan’s lobster tails for being overcooked. Then, Ryan brought up an undercooked lobster tail and tried to argue with Sammi that they were cooked, but Ramsay told him to shut it. As Sammi told Ryan to push it, the latter got his third attempt accepted. For the following order, Sous Chef Christina gave Sammi arugula instead of spinach, but she caught that mistake. Although Sammi felt proud she had caught that mistake, she failed to see that Ramsay had given her a Chilean sea bass instead of halibut. Ramsay pointed that out, making Sammi feel defeated for missing that. Still, Sammi thought she did well as Ramsay took over for the final orders.

After service ended, Ramsay told the final four to have a deep discussion on why they deserved to continue in the competition.

During deliberation, Ryan knew that while they could all talk about how much they did to get into Hell’s Kitchen, he felt he was the epitome of the American Dream. While Ryan said that all of them worked for years to get to where they were, Carmen revealed she had cooked professionally for one year after getting laid off from her corporate job and setting up her own business in her car. Carmen said all the sacrifices she made led her to Hell’s Kitchen, and she did not want to let her family down. Then, Johnathan reminded the group that he was competing for his daughter’s American Dream and knew the sacrifices he had made to get to where he was. Ryan said he could not see his family for four years due to being on a work Visa and going through the COVID-19 pandemic, and he almost went home until his dad convinced him to stay. Then, Ryan explained that his father gave up a chance to go to America because his mother was pregnant with him, and he wanted to win for him. Sammi revealed that she was competing for her dad as well, as the latter suffered from a stroke two years ago, and she has taken care of him since. Carmen said they were fighting for the American Dream in their own ways, and everyone agreed with that notion.

When the final four came down, Ramsay said that they were what remained of the eighteen chefs that started the competition. Although Ramsay acknowledged the talent the final four had, only three could advance, and he asked Sammi why she deserved to stay. Sammi said she had improved as a leader and wanted to become Ramsay’s next head chef, while Carmen said the hardships she faced made her resilient. Then, Johnathan said he was proud to be in the building as a father, while Ryan said he had the hunger and desire to become Ramsay’s next head chef.

After listening to their pleas, Ramsay announced that Ryan was the first chef in the final three for running the pass with control. Then, Johnathan was named the second chef in the final three for leading with authority and being the most consistent chef in the competition. With two people left, Ramsay revealed that Sammi was the final person in the final three because she had been unflappable in the competition, making her feel emotional. That meant Carmen was eliminated. Before leaving, Ramsay told Carmen that she had bucket loads of creativity and believed that when her experience caught up, she would be the total package. Ramsay told Carmen to reach out to him later and allowed her to keep her jacket. During her exit interview, Carmen received a retrospective montage of her time on the show.

After Carmen left, Ramsay told the final three that there was one more challenge they must participate in as it would decide who would be in the final two. However, Ramsay told them to take in the moment because they deserved it. While being dismissed, Ryan told his parents he would make it to the final round, while Johnathan was determined to get his hands on the door by kicking it into a new gear. Then, Sammi could not believe she was in the final three and knew her dad would be proud of her. At the end pf the episode, Carmen received the portrait burning sequence.

Ramsay's comment: "It's always difficult to let go of any chef that makes it into the final four, but Carmen's lack of experience puts her one step behind the other three great chefs I have left."
