Shannon David Larratt (September 29, 1973 – March 15, 2013) was a Canadian writer and artist. Larratt was best known as the creator, editor, and publisher of BMEzine, an online magazine focusing on extreme body modifications.

I have started and stopped this update several times because I honestly don’t know what to say and nothing I could say would be adequate. It is with sadness and regret that I have to announce that Shannon has passed away.
Mar 15, 2014 · One year ago today a friend, father, visionary, profound human being, and founder of BME Shannon Larratt passed away. Writing this one year later the idea of Shannon’s passing hasn’t fully set in for me or many of the people who were lucky enough to know him. It is hard not to say what has already been said about a man that changed so many lives.
BME was started as a web site hosted at Internex Online on December 6, 1994, by Shannon Larratt and was the first body modification website. [citation needed] BME was expanded in 2000 by the addition of IAM.BMEzine, an online community, which hosts blogs specifically for members of the body-modification community.
May 4, 2013 · Shannon Larratt passed away in Toronto, Ontario. He was 39 years old and is survived by his daughter Nefarious, his fiancé Caitlyn, and his former wife Rachel—who carries on the BME family of sites.
