His books include the fantasy trilogy His Dark Materials and The Good Man Jesus and the Scoundrel Christ, a fictionalised biography of Jesus. His family travelled with his father’s job, including to Southern Rhodesia, though most of his formative years were spent in Llanbedr in Ardudwy, Wales.
