The latest CBS News poll, which comes as President Biden ended his D-Day trip to France and former President Trump campaigned in two battleground states, shows the two candidates in a virtual tie in the presidential race. A majority of likely voters said in the poll Trump's conviction is not a major factor in the election.

The former president is scheduled to speak virtually at an event hosted by The Danbury Institute, which says it believes “that the greatest atrocity facing our generation is abortion."

President Biden is returning from France before heading to Italy for a meeting with G-7 allies. Meanwhile, former President Trump is back on the campaign trail following his convictions in New York. Skyler Henry has the latest.

STORY: As they concluded their trip to France, the Bidens visited Aisne-Marne American Cemetery in Belleau, about 85 kilometers (50 miles) east of Paris, to pay respects to U.S. soldiers and marines killed during World War One. "The idea that we're able to avoid being engaged in major battles in Europe is just not realistic," Biden told reporters. "That is why it's so important, the alliances that we have." Biden, a Democrat, is running against Trump, a Republican, for reelection in November. Trump's White House said in 2018 that the then-president, who was also on a trip to France, could not visit the cemetery because of bad weather. His chief of staff at the time, John Kelly, a retired general, attended instead, in light rain. Without mentioning Trump by name, Biden said he would not have come to Normandy without also visiting Aisne-Marne. "America showed up. America showed up to stop the Germans, America showed up to make sure that they did not prevail, and America shows up when we're needed," Biden said.

For the first time since he was convicted in his New York criminal trial, former President Donald Trump hit the campaign trail in the battleground state of Arizona. Trump is teasing a vice presidential pick, saying he may announce his running mate during the party convention next month.
