It specialized in Colonial Revival, Beaux-Arts, and English Arts & Crafts-style buildings, especially suburban houses. Clarence DeArmond (1880-1953) was a 1903 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania.

DeArmond, Ashmead & Bickley (fl. 1911-1938) -- Philadelphia Architects and Buildings. Composed of Clarence DeArmond, Duffield Ashmead, Jr., and George H. Bickley, all University of Pennsylvania graduates, this firm flourished from 1911 until the death of Bickley in 1938.
In 1915 it was renovated under the direction of Philadelphia architects DeArmond, Ashmead and Bickley. The house's interior decor includes Colonial Revival and Italianate architecture and contains works by Albert Ely Ives and others. Between 1916 and 1923, the pioneering female landscape architect Marian Cruger Coffin laid out the gardens.

1935–1937, DeArmond, Ashmead and Bickley. 400 Burnt Mill Rd., northwest of Centreville Epitomizing the Christiana Hundred chateau, Oberod stands on a hilltop perch overlooking rolling countryside. Famed horse breeders Harry W. Lunger and his wife, Jane du Pont, built it.
