Elkton is a town in and the county seat [3] of Cecil County, Maryland, United States. The population was 15,776 at the 2020 census, up from 15,443 in 2010.

Elkton is located on the colonial highway of America. Our forefathers navigated its waterways and traveled its roads when heading north to Philadelphia, or south to Virginia. Once known as Head of Elk, named by Captain John Smith, it sits at the northern headwaters of Chesapeake Bay.

Elkton (formerly Conrad's Store) is an incorporated town in Rockingham County, Virginia, United States. It is included in the Harrisonburg Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 2,941 at the 2020 census [5] and 2,762 at the 2010 census. Elkton was named for the Elk Run stream.
Some History of Elkton. Revolutionary War. By 1776 Cecil realized a need to arm local militia of the County. War with Britain was inevitable, and the Bohemia, Susquehanna, and Elk Battalions were formed. They didn't know at that time how outnumbered they'd be when the Kings troops arrived.
