Horodets had two midwives, or as they were called “Bobbes” [=“grandmothers” but also “midwives”] – the bobbe Mindl and the bobbe Chaya Zlate. It is also interesting to know that the bobbe Chaya Zlate was the great grandmother of today's great opera singer – Jan Peers.
