Cloudcroft is a village in Otero County, New Mexico, United States, and is located within the Lincoln National Forest. The population was 750 at the 2020 census. Its high elevation of 8,676 feet (2,644 m) allows for a mild summer and forested surroundings that makes it a tourist attraction, and tourism remains the primary economy of the village.
- Cloudcroft Area Hiking. Trestle Recreation Area. The Trestle Recreation Area, a shady picnic area for day use only, features a beautiful overlook. You’ll find restroom facilities, water, interpretive information, and easy access to hiking trails.
- Ski Cloudcroft. Ski Cloudcroft, the southernmost ski resort in the U.S., gets some of the best snow anywhere. A favorite for over 50 years, you’ll find 25 excellent trails with eight beginners, seven intermediate, eight advanced, and two expert trails.
- Cloudcroft James Sewell Ice Skating Rink. The only natural ice-skating rink in the southwest, The James Sewell Ice-Skating Rink, is outside in this charming small town in New Mexico.
- Golf At The Lodge Resort. Play the Lodge 9-Hole Golf Course twice, under the Scottish tradition of playing different tees and separate flags, open April 1 through October 31.
- RMSaunders. Edmond, OK65 contributions. Amazing hike. Amazing hike! Beautiful fall colors this week. Hike was moderate. We had ages ranging from 10 to 72 and we all made it just fine.
- amk. roswell 157 contributions. Nice hike, fairly easy. A little over 2 mile hike. Rocky in some places. There are some uphill sections. There are two or three benches along the trail.
- RMSaunders. Edmond, OK65 contributions. Must Do. Staying in Cloudcroft this is a must do! So neat to see the old trestles. We did the hike with an age range from 10 to 72 and we all made it and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
