Hayes is a suburban area of southeast London, England and part of the London Borough of Bromley. It is located 11 miles (18 km) south-east of Charing Cross , to the north of Keston and Coney Hall , west of Bromley Common , south of Bromley town centre, and east of West Wickham .
Hayes is situated near the county of Kent, 12 miles southeast of London. It has a population of around 16,000. Today it is part of the London Borough of Bromley. However, for almost 800 years it was a small village in Kent.

HAYES PLACE. From 1600 to 1933. A new double house was built by Robert Hall opposite Hayes Church in about 1600 on the site of Asshleys. It marked the origin of Hayes Place, which in the following centuries would see many changes and would become the most important building in Hayes.

Hayes is a suburb of the London Borough of Bromley, historically it was a village in Kent and retains much of that identity and retains typical features such as a village hall, pub, farm and yearly Fête. After becoming part of Greater London, Bromley was granted the use of Kent in its postal address. It lies to the south of Bromley town centre.

Hayes Kent History is a website that began life with two book volumes: ‘Hayes – A History of a Kentish Village volumes 1 and 2’ written by Jean Wilson and Trevor Woodman and published in 2012. The books summarised over 40 years of research into the growth of Hayes from a small village to the present-day community.
