Heilbronn (upper right) on the Neckar River, in southwest Germany. Heilbronn and its surroundings are located in the northern part of the larger Stuttgart metropolitan area. The city is the economic center of the Heilbronn-Franken region and is one of fourteen such cities in the Baden-Württemberg master plan of 2002.
Heilbronn is a city with Franconian joie de vivre, a theatre ship, a Gothic stone house and a famous astronomical clock. It also offers cycling tours, boat trips, vineyards and scenic views along the river.

- St Kilian’s Church. Heilbronn’s main historic building, St Kilian’s Church is a Gothic hall church made from Heilbronn’s sandstone. The oldest architecture dates back the 1200s, while the bulk of the building is from the 14th and 15th centuries.
- Astronomical Clock. On the gable of Heilbronn town hall’s old Renaissance facade is a fantastic piece of 16th-century workmanship by Isaak Habrecht who also designed the clock at Strasbourg Cathedral.
- Käthchenhaus. After gazing at the Astronomical Clock on Marktplatz you can also come around to the southwest corner of the square to appreciate this beautiful Gothic house dating to the 14th century.
- MS Experimenta. If you come to Heilbronn before 2019, one of the city’s top attractions will be going through a renovation. Experimenta is an interactive science centre and laboratory that opened in a former warehouse on Kraneninsel, between the Wilhelmskanal and the Neckar in 2003.

Heilbronn, city, Baden-Württemberg Land (state), southwestern Germany. It lies along the Neckar River and is surrounded by vineyards and the Swabian Forest. Built on the site of an old Roman settlement, it was first mentioned in 741, and the Carolingian princes had a palace there.
