Kalasin (Thai: กาฬสินธุ์, pronounced [kāːlāsǐn]) is one of Thailand's seventy-six provinces (changwat), located in upper northeastern Thailand, also called Isan. The province was established by the Act Establishing Changwat Kalasin, BE 2490 (1947) , and it came into existence on 1 October 1947.

With the prosperity of ancient civilizations formerly a residence of Lawa people, people were evacuated from the land on the left bank of the Mekong River to build houses around Kaeng Samrong and Pao River.
Kalasin (กาฬสินธุ์) is a rural and mainly agricultural province in Northeastern Thailand. It is split in two by a large reservoir that is important for flood control and irrigation. A mountain range along the edge of the province holds one national park, and the province is known for the numerous dinosaur fossils discovered there.
The province of Kalasin is located in Isan, the northeastern part of Thailand. It is renowned for its cultural heritage, its natural landscapes, its traditional communities... and its dinosaurs. It is bordered by Sakon Nakhon to the north, Mukdahan to the east, Roi Et to the south and Maha Sarakham to the west.

As of 2015, it has a population of 34,429 It covers the whole tambon Kalasin of the Mueang Kalasin District, an area of 16.96 km 2 (6.55 sq mi). Kalasin lies 513 kilometres (319 mi) north-northeast of Bangkok by road.
