Malahide is situated 14 kilometres (9 mi) north of the city of Dublin, [5] lying between Swords, Kinsealy and Portmarnock. It is situated on the southern shore of an estuary where the Broadmeadow River comes to the sea; on the opposite side of the estuary is Kilcrea, and, some way inland, Donabate.
