    Portimão (European Portuguese pronunciation: [puɾtiˈmɐ̃w] ⓘ) is a city and a municipality in the district of Faro, in the Algarve region of southern Portugal. [1] The population in 2022 was 60,879, [2] in an area of 182.06 km 2. [3] It was formerly known as Vila Nova de Portimão.
