Salmon Arm once again became a city in 2005, and is now the location of the head offices of the Columbia-Shuswap Regional District. It is a tourist town in the summer, with many beaches, camping facilities and house boat rentals. Salmon Arm is home to the longest wooden freshwater wharf in North America. [6]
Our population is approximately 17,100, and we are centrally located on the Trans Canada Highway between Calgary and Vancouver. Salmon Arm's location makes it an ideal destination for day trips to the mountains for skiing, hiking and biking, or the lake for a day of boating or relaxing on the beach.

- Walk to Margaret Falls in Harold’s Provincial Park. Margaret Falls is an absolutely stunning waterfall, accessible by a variety of trails in Harold’s Provincial Park.
- Relax at Canoe Beach. Who doesn’t love a relaxing day at the beach? I sure do! Canoe Beach is located just outside the town center and is fully equipped with everything you need for a fun and relaxing day at the beach.
- Go hiking. This region has some pretty stellar hikes if you’re ready to get outside and get active. One of my favorites is Mt. Ida, which is a large 1,564-meter (5,131 feet) mountain south of Salmon Arm.
- Eat at the Shuswap Pie Company. Best. Pie. Ever. I promise you will not be disappointed! The Shuswap Pie Company offers the best savory and sweet pies around, so you can get lunch and dessert all in one stop.
