"Bright Shining Lie" is a tv miniseries bio-docu-drama novel knock-off which tells of the exploits and adventures of an idealistic, single-minded maverick U.S. Army officer and curious mix of saint and sinner, John Paul Vann (Paxton), who lived for the war which eventually killed him.
