     This would be because

     arr = [[]] * 2-

     is creating another reference to the same list construct. So you have an array with two elements both of which are a reference to the same list. Thus an application on one of them, such as appending an element, will cause that same operation to be reciprocated to the other.

     Your *test *class has 3 attributes: price, cost and volume.

     Numpy module, or to simplify, class, has its own attribute array.

     Numpy and test are separate classes, and you're confusing them. In your __init__ you call the function np.array() and you assign the output to test.price. Now let's take a minute and think what exactly was assigned to test.price. It's nothing more than a numpy array, and test.price behaves exactly the same as any other numpy array would. Classes and objects aren't black magic: variables stored there behave in a very intuitive way! This was hard for me to imagine at first too, so I know where you stand. One more thing to remember: classes have their own namespaces, which means that test.var is independent from var and they don't interfere with each other in any way. You'll learn to appreciate namespaces sooner or later ;)

     As to your example of self.PromotionIdData.array()[self.ID,t] = ...

     That's a bit higher level of object oriented programming. Inside class definitions you can define functions, or rather methods, and call them the way you did in your example. Like so:

     class test(): def array(self): #remember to always pass self to a function inside your class return [1,2,3,4,5]->>>t=test()>>>t.array[2]3-

     Does remove internally make a copy of the array to remove the specified element?

     No

     How does it work?

     From the python source code for lists, remove() calls listremove():

     listremove(PyListObject *self, PyObject *v){ Py_ssize_t i; for (i = 0; i < Py_SIZE(self); i++) { int cmp = PyObject_RichCompareBool(self->ob_item[i], v, Py_EQ); if (cmp > 0) { if (list_ass_slice(self, i, i+1, (PyObject *)NULL) == 0) Py_RETURN_NONE; return NULL; } else if (cmp < 0) return NULL; } PyErr_SetString(PyExc_ValueError, "list.remove(x): x not in list"); return NULL;}

     Python slices the list at the index of the item to be removed. I found a better description of the remove function here:

     arguments: list object, element to removereturns none if OK, null if notlistremove: loop through each list element: if correct element: slice list between element's slot and element's slot + 1 return none return null

     With your notion of "in-place", I would say it is fairly in place, and works for your specific situation. But someone has already made a good point about taking note not to modify a list while iterating through it.
