With one of the largest halls in Italy, the Donizetti Theatre is one of the main Italian-style theatres and the bearer of a long tradition. The Theatre’s horseshoe-shaped hall is surmounted by three tiers of boxes and two galleries facing the wide stalls.
The Teatro Donizetti is an opera house in Bergamo, Italy. Built in the 1780s using a design by architect Giovanni Francesco Lucchini, the theatre was originally referred to as either the Teatro Nuovo or Teatro di Fiera.
The Theatre was named after Gaetano Donizetti in 1897, to mark the centenary of the Composer’s birth. Since that year, the Theatre, always attentive to experimentation and innovation, has distinguished itself for the quality and variety of its theatrical offerings, becoming one of the most important theatres on the Italian scene.
