The rocket car jump took place on US Highway 78E between Sumiton, Alabama. and Graysville, Alabama over the Locust Fork River (Lat.33°42'17.84"N Long. 86°59'33.74"W). The bridge was in the process of being demolished due to damage from a traffic accident involving a fuel truck.

Feb 3, 2015 · Hooper starring Burt Reynolds was filmed in the late 70s. Starting at 3:20 into the video, you will see the big bridge jump which was filmed right here in Walker County. Right before the jump was filmed at Warrior River Bridge by the Frosty. Does anyone know if were any other scenes filmed close by? I know a good part was filmed in Tuscaloosa.
Sonny and Ski come up with an extremely dangerous gag: they'll jump a 1978 Firebird, outfitted with a large jet engine, 325 feet across the ravine after the bridge is demolished. Though the jump can be done, there's no guarantee that the car will land safely for Sonny and Ski.
