The Cooper Society promotes the study and appreciation of the life, works, and ideas of James Fenimore Cooper (1789-1851). We aim to provide useful information to scholars, students, and readers and a venue for fellow Cooper enthusiasts to connect.
The society has obtained permission to include major primary and secondary resources. There are the basics: plot summaries and a character reference list from Warren Walker’s 1978 guide to Cooper; a glossary of places and people; genealogical lists and narratives.
James Fenimore Cooper (September 15, 1789 – September 14, 1851) was an American writer of the first half of the 19th century, whose historical romances depicting colonial and indigenous characters from the 17th to the 19th centuries brought him fame and fortune.
