May 18, 2024 · After heading to London where he took on his pseudonym in tribute to Moby Dick author Hermann Melville, Jean-Pierre Melville returned to France to join the Resistance movement in Castres, and fought in Operation Dragoon. He also took part in the Battle of Monte Cassino assaults in 1944.
