Leonard King Lesser (December 3, 1922 – February 16, 2011) was an American character actor and comedian best known for his recurring role as Uncle Leo on Seinfeld. [1] . He was also known for his role as Garvin on Everybody Loves Raymond. Early life. Lesser was born in New York City in 1922. His father, a grocer, was a Jewish immigrant from Poland.
Lesser did not achieve a regular role until cast as Uncle Leo in "Seinfeld", at the age of 69. Afterwards he was cast in the recurring role of Garvin in the sitcom "Everybody Loves Raymond" (1996-2005). Both Uncle Leo and Garvin were friendly and overly enthusiastic acquaintances of the respective protagonists of each sitcom.
