Before sending anything, login to PayPal and check that you received a payment. To report a suspicious email or website, forward it to phishing@paypal.com and we’ll investigate it for you. After you send us the email, delete it from your inbox.

- Overpayment Scam. In an overpayment scam, a scammer posing as a buyer will purchase your item through PayPal and purposefully send more money than you are asking for.
- Fake Account Verification Scam. In this scam, the fraudster sends you a phishing email pretending to be from PayPal. The email may claim you need to verify your account, update your security settings, or reset your password due to suspicious activity.

- Fake Payment Confirmation Scam. As a seller, the fake payment confirmation scam attempts to trick you into thinking a payment has been sent for your sold goods.
- PayPal tech support or customer service scam. Customer service and tech support scammers sometimes pretend to be PayPal employees to lull users into a false sense of security.
- PayPal verification scam. Fake verification scams mostly use phishing emails. In a fake verification scam, you’ll receive an email that looks like it’s from PayPal.
- PayPal invoice scam. In PayPal invoice scams, cybercriminals create realistic invoices to trick users into paying for products or services they didn’t want or receive.
