MPAA rating. Poltergeist initially received an R rating from the MPAA. Steven Spielberg and Tobe Hooper disagreed with the R rating and succeeded in changing it to PG on appeal. Reissues. The film was reissued on October 29, 1982 to take advantage of the Halloween weekend.
