Unique Features: The Summer Storm is a cultivated variety of Japanese Tree Lilac originated in Minnesota in 2013. It is smaller than the species, but grows faster. It grows into an upright, broadly oval shape and is usually cultivated and sold as a single trunk tree form. The dark green, heart-shaped leaves are similar to those of the Common lilac.
A uniformly branched variety of Japanese Tree Lilac that originated in Minnesota. Proven in zone 3 (-40°). Matures to an upright oval habit. Creamy white clusters of white flowers appear in June. Though lighter in fragrance than common lilacs, the flowers are almost never affected by late spring frosts. Hardy to -40°F Maximum Elevation: 7,000 ft.
